The Advantages of a Sit N Go Poker
Tournament
If you have a regular poker night with you and your buddies,
chances are, you enjoy poker. The only problem for many
is that one day a week is just not enough. Poker fans need
to get their fix someplace and what better place then on the
internet.
It
can be a bit daunting for those that are brand new to
online poker. What kind of poker game should I play
online? Which website do I use?
If I
were starting off I would definitely recommend the Sit N
Go Poker Tournament. What it essentially is, is a
Texas hold'em tournament, in which the people who finish
in the top 3, make money.
Most
of the online tournament's consist of 9 players.
They each have a buy in, which added together forms the
winning pot. So, essentially 6 players will lose
their buy in, and the top 3 split the winnings into
a certain percentage like this.
1st place gets 50% of the pot
2nd place gets 30% of the pot
3rd place gets 20% of the pot
If you are used to playing in more traditional game, (non
tournament) where you can keep digging into your wallet for
more money to bet, this may seem awkward at first, but it
definitely has its advantages.
For starters, there is a limit to how much you can lose.
Since all you can lose is the buy in, there is no need to have
to go back to your wallet and be more in the hole.
It also teaches players about patience. It's one thing to
know that you can always add money to your holdings, it's a
different thing altogether to know the only way to add chips is
to win them from your opponents.
But you also have to know that this style of game is a
marathon and not a sprint. You can tell who the amateurs are
when you are playing. They usually are the ones that are
going all in on every other hand. Sure, they may get
lucky once in a while, but you can be assured that eventually
they will be one of the first ones out of the tournament.
Many folks just are not used to this and it can take quite
an adjustment for them to hang of this. There are many
good courses that help poker players prepare for tournament
style. One I would recommend is Sit and Go Pro Poker
System. It really explains everything from a newbie
perspective.
